For one so young, it appears that you have your act together and are travelingdown the right path and you are to be commended.
This young girl who has started the rumors definitely has some issues. What isso sad is she probably doesn’t have a clue of the repercussions her behavior willbring to herself and others.
Gossip wounds people. Gossips love to take their pieces of information “their tasty trifles” (Proverbs 26:20-22) and pass them along. They have so little to occupy their minds that they feed on another’s personal life. Often their motive is attention, or maybe they wish to put someone down to raise themselves up. Whatever the reason , it shouldnot happen especially in the church. That is not only a slap in your face, but God’s face as well. God, however is a good notekeeper and will deal in His own way with thisyoung girl.
You are right in wanting to protect your character. You will not only be protecting your character but that of the Spirit that dwells within you. You must be prayed up and have all your armor on (Ephesains 6). You must take someone with you. Maybe the youthpastor or a respected college student in the church with you. That way the truth willb e spoken and the situation handled with dignity.
Prepare your words and may they be “soft to the touch” and not cut into the heart. This will reflect not only your character but the Christlikeness in you as well.
Do not let this incident change your walk with the Lord. Their will always begossips around the corner. Just remember, if you have nothing to hide from God,you have nothing to worry about. Greater is He that is in you than he that is inthe world.
I will be praying for you.
In Him,
Sandy
